Abstract: | The constant transformation of our society into a patchwork of different people with different backgrounds indicates that today's children are being raised and educated to interact in a much different and larger social universe; they are growing in a global economy and in a world community. Contemporary educators and families are aware that their own lives are largely shaped by their early experiences and thus it is important to raise today's children on respecting individual and group differences and on valuing diversity. This paper presents part of a longitudinal research project, started in late 90's and which is still active. The area of investigation has been Greek nurseries and pre-school centres, where by interviewing early years teachers on their curriculum planning and their practices, it is identified that although immense social changes have been taking place, early childhood anti-bias education is still in its infancy. |
