Preschool professionals’ knowledge, skills, competencies and working conditions are essential elements of quality in Early Childhood Education and Care institutions. Based on the assumptions that the quality in ECEC institutions depends on the existence of welleducated, experienced and competent workforce, and that improving quality depends on improving both the education and working conditions of the workforce, this paper examines the level of workforce quality in Greece. More specifically, it analyzes a) the initial education and continuing professional development of preschool professionals, and b) data on working conditions. By exploring the above elements we hope to contribute to the creation of a shared agenda and a shared understanding of quality in early childhood education and care.en_US
