Learning design aims to devise approaches and tools to assist teachers/designers in planning educational events of various kinds, based on pedagogically sound criteria for the identification of learning objectives, appropriate learning strategies, assessment criteria, digital tools and media. However, each liable defect in learning design constitutes a risk factor in learning design suitability. Learning design suitability can be examined in the light of the IMS LD Specification’s principles. These principles highlight learning activity as the cardinal entity and define the relationships of the learning activity with other entities, such as actors, goals and resources. Any defect in any of these relationships should highly affect the learning design suitability. Thereby, the risks factors should be traced in the view of these relationships. This paper focuses attention on a risk analysis process based on the generation of specific indicators in order to identify risks factors within the context of the learning activity relationships. In parallel manner the paper, comes up with a way of monitoring these indicators through learning analytics, using data kept by Moodle LMS. Thus, a case study has been conducted in the context of a specific course in order to verify these indicators.en_US
