Abstract: | This paper explores the use of the internet by Greek local government. Prefectures may use the internet for delivering services to citizens efficiently. A four-stage evaluation scheme is developed to investigate the quality and sophistication of prefecture websites. The quantitative analysis of websites reveals that most of the e-government efforts at the prefecture level are limited to information provision, without exploring the functions related to interactivity, transactions and more citizen-oriented services. |
