Abstract:
The initial Vocational Training, organized in Greece, trains adults in post-secondary education programs of specific specializations. The Public Thematic in STEAM Vocational Training Institute Aigaleo uses Vocational Open Online Courses in the teaching of both theoretical & practical subjects during the 4 semesters of studies. The Vocational Open Online Courses have been developed to train students in various modern Vocational Courses in technical subjects. The paper describes the innovative way these modern open online courses assist the blended learning at the Thematic Vocational Training Institute, which offers technical specializations. Teaching these subjects using a STEAM approach increases the students’ creativity. Exploratory-discovery learning, problem-solving and the active participation of the students in the investigation, and the building of knowledge play a dominant role in the educational process. The use of online material in the form of Vocational Open Online Courses, helps the Thematic Vocational Training Institute to provide innovative training using STEAM techniques.
