Abstract:
The aim of the present study is to describe in detail the top-up degree program that is offered in Nursing by the Cyprus University of Technology. The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) was founded by law on December 2003 and welcomed its first students on September 2007. The Department of Nursing of CUT offers the top-up degree program for nursing professionals, who are graduates of Nursing School of Cyprus. The aim of the program is to provide the graduates of the Nursing School with additional studies that lead to the acquisition of academic degree (top-up degree) in Nursing (or Nursing of Mental Health). The content of this top-up program was formed after comparative evaluation of the work volume (according to the European Credit Transfer System-ECTS), of the Nursing School‘s course syllabus and the Nursing Department‘s of Cyprus University of Technology course syllabus. The teaching needs of the program are covered through a system of elected academics, visiting professors, special scientists, and special teaching personnel from Cyprus and abroad. The evaluation of the program is curried out with the use of suitably drawn questionnaires which are shared to the academic staff and students.
