Abstract: | The purpose of this paper is to examine the personality factors that cause changes on entrepreneurial intention after the intervention of entrepreneurial education. A pre-test-post-test group design was used to measure the changes in students’ entrepreneurial intention. Two questionnaires were completed by 202 business students, studying at a public university based in Athens, Greece. Our statistical analysis showed that Openness, Extraversion of the Five factor Model and Risk Aversion are important factors influencing entrepreneurial intention. A Wilcoxon test we employed indicated that there is an increase in entrepreneurial intention following the course attendance. Furthermore, a cluster analysis we used, divided our sample in two groups. The first group included the students with a mean change in entrepreneurial intention levels (following the intervention) approximately zero, while the second group consisted of the students whose mean change was positive. The findings indicate that students with lower levels of extraversion, openness and conscientiousness demonstrated higher means of change in entrepreneurial intention levels. This study approach has several limitations however, future studies could investigate the generalizability of the findings reported here and inquire the potential existence of latent variables which may be confounding the relationships discussed in this paper. |
